Boeing Aircraft
How safe are Boeing airplanes?
Somewhere in the world a Boeing jet is taking off or landing every
second — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Boeing airplanes —
7-series and DC/MD models — have made more than 300 million safe,
accident-free flights over the past four decades, including approximately
41,000 safe flights per day, every day, during 1998. In fact,
Boeing jets make approximately 85 percent of the flights made
by the world’s commercial jet transport fleet.
In light of all the talk about its rudder system, is the 737
a safe airplane?
Absolutely. The five-model 737 Classic family has one of the industry's
best safety records. Introduced 30 years ago, the aircraft has
safely transported nearly 6 billion passengers - equal to theworld's
entire population. The 737's 77 million flights since 1968 span
more than 32 billion miles - approximately 175 trips to the sun
and back. By far the most widely purchased, widely flown passenger
jet in history, the 737 Classic has posted more than 91 million
hours of service for airlines. That's equivalent to flying 24
hours a day, seven days a week, for about 10,390 consecutive years.
